Reims Cathedral

We were woken up by some noisy drilling outside, we realised we’re on an industrial estate and also the room stank of smoke so we got relocated to another room on the other side which seemed quieter.

We decided to be very lazy and just mooch around the centre of Reims. We toured around a few champagne shops but didn’t do any tasting. Got to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral – lovely stain glass windows and the organ had over 6000 pipes. Tony got in to his photography mode and got lots of photos.

Kicked back and started unwinding, we found a huge supermarket (Carrefour) and somehow managed to spend a couple hours in there. It made Tesco Extra look small in comparison, they even had a fishing gear section.

Ferry to Reims

The beginning of our travels, remembered the clocks went forward and made it for our ferry with plenty of time to spare. However, once on the ferry – we were bombarded with tons of university students dressed is god knows what….apparently they are on their way to Barcelona for an annual sports festival. We’re just glad they were not heading the same direction of us, there were a bunch of guys dressed in ladies night wear, a girl as a badger, another group dressed in cow-like clothing.

Finally made it in to Reims late – not much to see as it was dark, probably just as well as our hotel ended up being on an industrial estate (Tony booked it!), thankfully we took our own duvet and pillows – it made it somewhat more comfortable. We managed to find some food (it seems everywhere was closed by 10pm) and hit the sack.
